Fred Rio passed through France on business travel and obviously we had to take a bike ride while he was here. We had to find him a bike (Harry’s old Colnago) some pedals, gloves and a helmet (courtesy of Dave’s Bike Shop) and off we go for about 75 kms of great riding!
Contrary to the Florida’s Southeast coastal conditions, here in Northern France we have rain, nasty weather, cooler conditions BUT great roads for riding both MTB and Road bikes with hills, turns, switchbacks, and wonderful headwinds that generally kick your butt.

Fred just got off the plane from the US but still was ready to roll.

And then back into the pain cave …
This is my signature shot. If you think this is easy to do, think again.
Yep, that road is rising. Good stuff to climb around here.
In France, you can stop at any cimetary and fill up on water. yes, it’s weird but it’s extremely convenient. This shot is at the cimetary of Trumilly.
So, Fred got lucky and had great weather during his short window for a ride, and Harry and I enjoyed riding again together with him. We did 45 miles in 2h28m for 18.2 average speed and 1450 feet of climbing.
Maybe next time, we’ll ride in Florida!
